The bottom line: Felicia Williams of ASG arranged for a trucking company, US1 Auto Transport LLC (I think it might be a one truck company) to pick up my car within the necessary time window and kept in touch with me and and the dispatching office of the trucking company and the truck was delivered undamaged within the time window I need to have it delivered and almost to the hour of the time when the driver thought he would deliver it when he picked the car up. if I had to ship a car again I would start with Felicia Williams at ASG.

Now for some thoughts I'd pass on to anyone shipping a vehicle for the first time. There are two distinct parties one has to deal with. Your shipping agent.the company who finds a driver who commits to picking up and delivering your vehicle. The person at your shipping agent with whom you deal is important. In my case that was Felicia Williams. Felicia's job is to deal with the ASG customer, explaining the process and being the face of ASG. She also deals with the person(s) at ASG who find a driver who is going where you want your vehicle shipped and who says he can deliver the vehicle where you want it delivered. The driver in turn has a dispatcher. You will probably deal with the trucking company's dispatcher before you deal with the driver, but in any case a tentative date and later a firm date and a tentative time for the pick up will be communicated to you. In my case Felicia Williams was in touch with the trucking company's dispatcher and with me to make sure the pickup worked out. It did at a time well within the window I required. But there were a couple of hitches which might have been problematic had they not been straightened out at the time of pickup. First the trucking company's dispatcher had reversed some of the numbers in the address to which the vehicle was to be delivered, which probably wouldn't have been a problem had the dispatcher not also incorrectly entered the town in Minnesota to which the vehicle was to be delivered and also listed the wrong cell phone number for the Minnesota end of the transaction. Fortunately I noticed these glitches at the time the vehicle was picked up. Felicia monitored the situation well and probably would have picked up on any problem cause by these inaccuracies. I mention them mainly by way of suggesting that one check the bill of lading carefully when the vehicle is picked up.

Strong Recommendation: If you are shipping a vehicle for the first time, I strongly recommend that you read a good number of the unfavorable recommendations you can find on line. I did and found it was an excellent way to learn about the process and to start thinking about how I was going to plan to avoid as many of the problems people reported they had encountered as I could. Also understand that there are two distinct fees involved. One for the shipping agent and one for the trucking company. When reading unfavorable reviews it is clear that some people have received emails which seem to offer shipping at a price which only covers the trucking company fee only to be upset later on learning that the company which arranges the shipping (your agent) also charges a fee. As one reads through the negative reviews one realizes that even the best of agents may arrange for shipping with a trucking company which has done well in the past but one of whose drivers turns out to be unsatisfactory. Or the trucker who best seems to fit the needs of your shipment is a small company, never employed before by the agent, which does a very bad job. It's a tough business and lots of things can go wrong. Again, read the unfavorable reviews and use the information about what when wrong to help you in planning your shipment. Finding a knowledgeable person at a shipping agent who will kept in touch with the progress of your shipment and help keep things on track is very valuable. Felicia Williams at ASG did that for me.
