As a person who has never shipped cars before and likely won't need to again, I was at first completely overwhelmed by the process. My job is in sales for a manufacturer, and I'm very familiar with shipping skids and truckloads all over the country, but even the freight brokers I deal with on a daily basis had no experience with shipping cars. It is its own animal. Here's my summary of the car shipping industry (from an outsider's perspective) after speaking to several brokers: You can search and search and look up reviews and try to figure out the best way to get your car from point A to point B, but in the end, nailing down a day of shipment is very difficult, finding a truly trustworthy company is next to impossible, and your quoted cost may or may not be your cost. Will your car get where you need it to go? Probably. Will you like how it gets there? Who knows? What I can now say after shipping 2 cars from Chicago to rural North Carolina is that Auto Shipping Group, and specifically Heidi who works there, did a fantastic job for me. Of all the logistical pieces of my move, car shipping turned out to be the most accurately timed and quoted component. First, Heidi is a dream to deal with. I never felt like I was being pressured into or sold anything. She took the time to explain the process to me in great detail. (I had heard the process from other brokers, but they simplified it, leaving me with many unanswered questions.) She always answered emails quickly, and we spoke on the phone a number of times. I was even able to correspond with her via text. Second, the process worked exactly how she described it. She put my request up for bid and got a reply almost immediately. She negotiated price, timing and delivery details with the trucking company and kept me informed of what was going on while she was doing it. She secured pickup on the exact date that I needed, was completely up front about pricing - what she would earn for the job, what the tucking company would earn, how and when I should make payment - and it all went exactly as she said it would. (Side note: it's very scary giving your credit card to someone you don't know. It's even scarier that you need to meet up with a truck driver and hand over cash or a cashier's check to get your cars. But that's how this industry works.) The delivery was fast and flexible. I was able to meet the driver in a parking lot at a rental car place and drop off my rental car and pick up my cars all at once. If you're looking to move cars, best of luck to you. It's daunting. But if you happen to find this review early enough in your search, take my advice, save yourself some time and go with Auto Shipping Group (ask for Heidi because she's awesome!). I can't say that they're the lowest cost. I have no idea. But I do know that they got my cars to where they needed to be, exactly when I wanted them, at the exact price that was quoted. And I never felt like I was being fooled or manipulated. And sorry to be "that guy" but it was also really nice to speak to someone whom I knew was not in a call center half way around the world.
