I contracted Around the Globe Auto Transport after searching the net for some price comparison. For the move of a 1995 Honda Del Sol from San Jose, California, to Canton, Ohio, I received a quote of $870 PLUS a $300 gas or grocery voucher to be delivered with the car. I decided to go with Around the Globe because of the price and extra incentive. The first phone call to them wasn't painful, but that's where the usefulness of this company ended. The move was booked about 4 days in advance, deposit paid, contract signed, and all was good to go. When the driver showed up at the point of origin to pick up the car (a day late, mind you), we found that he had been given an address in Canton, Michigan! Needless to say, my car did NOT get on that truck that day. Due to a business trip on the seller's end (he was out of town for a weekend, then a few other days) the car couldn't then be picked up for a couple more days- no biggie, right? Upon letting Around the Globe know that he would be out of town and advising them the day they could pick it up, they gave me all kinds of excuses saying they couldn't guarantee pickup for about a week and a half because the route was so backed up and nonsense like that. So I coordinated with the seller again and we decided that the car could be picked up sometime between August 27th thru the 30th. This was on August 18th or 19th, so that gave Around the Globe 8 days and then some to book me a spot on a truck. When the 29th rolled around and I got an e-mail from the seller saying he'd heard nothing from Around the Globe about the pickup time, I called them, got put on hold for about 10 minutes, then spoke to the dispatcher wondering why my car hadn't been picked up yet. She said again that the route was backed up and they still couldn't guarantee pickup for another week and a half. I informed her that if the car wasn't picked up by the 30th, I would lose the car because the seller was moving and would no longer be able to ship it to me. The dispatcher said she'd see what she could do. No word back from them on that day, so I called 5 times the next day, and each time got told that they were still looking for a driver, but that they wanted ANOTHER $200 COD on top of what they originally quoted me. I told her that I wouldn't be paying extra, so she said she can't guarantee pickup again for another week or so. I told her that if it wasn't picked up that day, I wouldn't own the car anymore, and she just said she'd see what she could do. Of course, no call back from her that day, so the next day I called to cancel my shipment because I lost the car. Even though it was THEIR error and lack of service that caused the order to be cancelled, I still didn't get refunded an administrative fee of $90. The whole process has been a pain n the butt, and Around the Globe is fully to blame. I recommend NEVER using these shippers for their lack of commitment, dishonesty, and terrible customer service. Good luck, and happy reviewing!
