This is the second time that I've moved my car cross-country. The first time was to Washington, when I didn't look at TransportReviews.com before hiring a transport company. This time around, I'm moving to San Francisco. Because of the short time frame under which I had to move, I quickly hired one moving company for the stuff in my house and one transport company for my car (finding both companies via the internet). I hired the guys that provided the cheapest rates, given that I am trying to save money.

That said, I had an absolutely terrible time with the movers for the stuff from my home. They low-balled the initial quote and then tried to charge me 3 times the amount after my stuff was loaded onto the truck. After that experience, I Googled the transport company I was planning to use to ship my car just to see if I could do a background check on it. Unfortunately, the result was negative and I found a number of very negative reviews on various blogs and on TransportReviews.com. I immediately called to cancelled my reservation with that company and got yelled at by a belligerent representative from the transport company telling me I could not cancel my reservation and that I would not receive my deposit back (that company just so happens to be one of the lower-rated companies on TransportReviews.com - so I can say for certain, the reviews on this site are accurate.). Thank goodness I didn't go through with using that company. I decided to use Angels Moving Autos because of the numerous good reviews that the company received on TransportReveiws.com. The quote was $195 higher that what I received from the other company, but I'm sure it's because the company gives a more honest quote and because the transport companies that the company uses are higher quality. I'm also guessing that there was a good chance that the other company would have tried to extort more money out of me after they got my business (in fact, the other company told me that I could load stuff in the back seat of the car. I'm guessing upon picking up the car, the driver would try to charge me for that).

The driver for Angels Moving Autos was GSI Carriers, Inc. (based out of NJ). The guy's name was Steven and he was extremely professional and courteous. He did a very good job and keeping up informed of when he was comning to pick up the car and when he was going to drop off the car. The car was picked up on Saturday, despite the scheduled pick-up date of Friday, but the important thing was that we were notified there would be a delay before Friday, which prevented us from sitting around all day waiting for the driver. When he arrived to get the car, Steven worked extremely fast and quickly gave us our paperwork and loaded the car onto his truck. He spent time making sure that all the cars on the transport were secured properly (he had a flashlight and was checking all of the securings under our car).

The drop-off was equally smooth. Steven dropped off the car on Friday, which was 6 days after pick-up. He called us at 7am on Friday and we met up with him to receive the car. Again, he moved very quickly and was very polite and professional. We paid him the balance in cash and we were off. The car was a bit dirty, which is normal for an open transport, and there was a bit of road grime on it, but nothing to get upset about.

Importantly, during the entire process, Michelle from Angels Moving Autos made sure that the process was going smoothly and that we were on the same page as the driver that was transporting our car. From the many reviews here, I noticed that many of the lower-rated companies disassociate themselves from the process as soon as they get your deposit / their cut of the money. Definitely not that case here. Michelle from Angels Moving Autos called us a number of times throughout the transport process to make sure everthing was going smoothly - the customer service was excellent!

The bottom line is that I would use Angels Moving Autos again without hesitation. Both the company and the driver were extremely professional and courteous. A word of advice... Use the higher-rated companies because you get what you pay for (you'll get a higher quality transport company). In addition, I think some of the lower-rated companies will try to charge you extra somewhere during the process anyway and those companies could potentially cause huge headaches.
