I originally contacted American Auto Transporters for my 1993 Mustang Cobra that has 13,000 miles. They gave me a quote of 700 for open and 900 for enclosed. I told them I wanted the enclosed as my car has never even seen rain.

They gave me the pickup date that I agreed to. I told them I HAD TO get the vehicle out so I needed to be sure they were going to show up. They assured me that everything was all set and the driver would contact me when he was on his way. The date came and I waited all day waiting to hear from the driver. Nobody ever called or showed up. Of course I coudn't contact the company as the office was closed by the time I called them.

The next morning I called to find out what was going on and they told me I was scheduled for that day. I asked why they never showed up as promised and they said they didn't know but it would definitely be that day. No explanation and no apology. I was barely acknowledged. Anyway the driver finally called late in the day and said he was on his way. I offered to meet him on a larger street but he assured me there was no need.

Then came the knock on my door. I expected to see my ENCLOSED TRAILER but to my dismay there was a flatbed tow truck with a car already on the bed. They wanted to TOW my vehicle on a tow hook. Of course I was outraged as I had paid for an enclosed transport which had already been charged to my card.

They explained that this was just to bring it to a central location till they had the right combination together for transport. So it was going to be TOWED to a warehouse where it would be moved around till they had the right combination. This is not what I paid for. They should be able to figure out I don't want a TOW TRUCK for a paid enclosed transport.

They told me I could drive it to their central location so it wouldn't be towed. Now because of the unkept promises my back was up against the wall for time and I said that I could probably bring it by the next day. In my opinion they should have made arrangements to do as promised. Who in their right mind would bring a tow truck for an enclosed transport vehicle.

Anyway, the next day came and it was raining very hard. As my car had never seen rain and I was already feeling uneasy I decided not to bring it. Imagine they wanted me to do their work and were not even offering me a rate cut after broken promises and lies.

At this point I started to look for another company and was lucky to find one. National Transport LLC took care of me and subbed the work to McClauphlin Transport. They did a great job and I couldn't be more pleased. Extremely careful, proffesional and did everything they said they would. Unfortunately, I did have to pay a little extra for the last minute arrangements.

Then to add insult to injury, I notified American that I was cancelling my order and expected a refund as they had already charged me. In my opinion they should have paid for my extra last minute expenses as their lies and unproffesionalism is the only reason I needed to pay out the extra. Anyway they said they would refund my money. More than a week went by and still no credit to my account. Funny how they could process my payment the same day the order was first entered. Notime wasted there. So I called to inquire and was told they hadn't had a chance to credit my account but would get to it. Very convenient priorities.

FINALLY, there was a credit BUT they decided to charge me a cancellation fee. These assholes never stop. I called them and told them this was not acceptable and was told the owner would call me back. Of course I never received the call and assumed I would just see the credit. Another week went by with no response and I called again. I was told I would have to speak to the owner which of course would not answer the call. The person I spoke with did get back to me and stated that he had approved. They will try to get away with whatever they can. I have yet to see the credit but me next step is the Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General. I should probably contact at least the BBB so that others may be forwarned.
