On Monday, April 18, I signed a contract to move an SUV from TX to AL. Dianne said that the pick-up would be Weds or Thurs sure because they had a truck in the area which had to be in AL right away for 2 pick-ups which had to go out immediately. She was asked whether it was safe for the lady waiting for the pick-up to schedule a flight out Friday morning and she said absolutely. When no truck had arrived by late Thurs I tried to reach Am Auto to find out what the situation was. Up to this point the phone had been answered immediately, but nowI was not able to get them to answer - Thurs, Fri, over the weekend or Mon. We were desparate not knowing what to do. We didn't know if they were still involved. My wife canceled her flights and Mon I tried to find another transport agency. This agency reported that our car was still "on the boards" meaning that no trucker had picked up our job yet. Unlike Am Auto the new agency (1 To Go To Transport 866-561-2462) charges no deposit and no cancelation fee and was responsive to calls. Within a day the new agency had a truck and our car was in Al in 3 days. Mon, I canceled Am Auto and Tues I had an email from them saying they had a truck. I paid their cancelation fee and the deposit was returned. The whole experience with them was very unpleasant, anxiety producing, and costly.

This customer, when they booked, agreed to an estimated pick up date for a lower cost than if they had chosen guaranteed. The order was booked with a 7 day window starting on thursday, I had a truck scheduled to be there on Tuesday, well within the estimated window. The customer booked with another company without cancelling with us, so my driver made a trip for no reason. I explained that the cancellation fee could be applied to any future move and I also mailed out a 15% discount on any future shipments in an attempt to appease the customer. We are sorry we could not assist the customer in the manner they needed.
