Did their job, but communication was lacking

First I want to say that my primary contact person in the company, Jessie, was very helpful and knowledgeable, and I am pleased with the job she did. I was quoted $865 but ended up paying $975, which I understand is somewhat out of All States' control. My car made it to its destination safely, but my less-than-perfect review is based on the following:

(1) I made my reservation almost two months in advance

(2) I never received a courtesy call from the company to update me on the status of my order. Up until the point of desperation (read on for details), I had to initiate every single correspondence with All States.

(3) my car was picked up six days after the first available date. At the last minute, I had to call on a friend's relative to help me watch the car, which was a big inconvenience. This is not All States' fault, because the carrier's truck broke down. However, All States should have been on the lookout for a carrier way before my first available date and called to ask if I was willing to have the car shipped off earlier. I made it clear that I would be out of town by 3 days after the first available date.

(4) Most of the employees I spoke to were not helpful, with the exception of Jessie, who became my main contact after it became apparent that I was on a short timeline, and All States had very little time left to find a carrier for my car. Jessie's attitude was great, and she was very professional.

In short, I would recommend this company, but with caution. Make sure to be proactive in following up with All States. Don't be afraid of "bothering" them. I made the mistake of backing off for fear of being annoying, and the result was that my pickup ended up being late. In the end, the car made it across the country safely, so this experience was not entirely negative.

In your notes from shipper you stated "I'd like to avoid delivery on 7/1-7/3. Delivery contact will not be available to pick up the vehicle on those dates. Pickup date cannot be later than 6/27" We located a carrier 06/22/11 5:42 pm however, the pick up date & delivery was not good with you, so we continued to search. On 06/24/11 12:36 pm we located the carrier that we dispatched your vehicle to. Your vehicle was dispatched and accepted : 06/24/11 12:46 pm. Load date:06/27/11 We do not have control of the carriers, weather or traffic conditions. This is why we never guarantee you a specific date or time and always ask for at least a 72 hour pick up window. Your vehicle was delivered on 7/6/11 transit time was 4 days. I sincerely apologize for the delay and inconvenience. We tried our best to get someone that fit your needs best.
