Our contract with All America said "Luggage and personal property must be confined to trunk, with no heavy articles, and not to exceed 150 lbs." We mistakenly assumed that meant we could put up to 150 lbs in each car. The day before pickup, the driver, who worked for Element Auto Transport from Victorville, CA, called to verify address and pickup time and said he would not allow ANY personal property in the cars. I called All America and they said they are the BROKER, not the SHIPPER, and the driver sets his own terms. All America was unhelpful, disclaimed responsibility or ability to intervene, and since it was late on Friday we learned the hard way that they are unreachable after 5pm on Fridays. Since our moving van had already departed, we had to jettison the light materials we wanted to put in the cars. When the driver arrived for pickup he was "unpleasant". I would not use All America or Element again. Biggest lesson is to be sure your contract with the BROKER also binds the SHIPPER. We were unknowingly dealing with two different parties, and didn't even know who the SHIPPER was until the day before the pick up.
