I guess it happens.

I received a quote from Agape that was not the absolute lowest, but lower than some. I chose them mainly because they advertise Christian values, and had received many good reviews, plus, the quote seemed reasonable. I had never used an auto transport company before but I researched a bit prior to contracting with Agape.

The ladies were always polite and friendly. I understood it could take up to 10 days to secure a carrier. However, after 10 days, Agape was still unable to secure a carrier. At 14 days, Candie told me I could get a carrier but it would cost me an additional $180.00. At that point, I had lost faith in Agape and chose to go with another carrier.

I think part of the problem is in the way this industry works. Some brokers bid/quote low prices to get you to contract with them. Then when they have your contract, they hope they can secure a carrier for that amount. Sometimes ( perhaps most times ? ), they are unable and ask for more money. My problem with this is, it sets the customer up for delays and disappointment. An experienced broker should know what the going rate is, and not quote lower prices to get the contract, knowing the odds of getting a carrier for that low rate is slim. But it does seem to be the norm for this industry, as I had received quotes that were even lower than Agape's. Could those brokers have retained a carrier for me at the quoted price ? Probably not.

Since Agape gets so many good reviews, I'm sure this happens rarely with them, but it did happen to me. And I thought perspective customers should know of this possibility, that the broker may not be able to get a carrier for you at the price they quoted you. This will cause delays in getting your car and cost you more money in the end.

Agape did refund my deposit promptly and I thank them for that. I wished they were able to secure a carrier for me in time and within the quoted price. Unfortunately for both of us, they could not.

We first want to thank Mr. Clontz for the opportunity and we offer our sincere apology that we were unable to complete the transport for him. Most of our customers vehicles are picked up within 1-7 work days but there are occasions where it may take a little longer. This depends on the route and availability of carriers. We inform all customers of this in writing so there is no misunderstanding. Mr. Clontz vehicle was located very far out on Long Island, NY, which caused the delay. Mr. Clontz choose our lowest shipping option because he was not in a hurry. (We offer expedited shipping options for those customers who are in a time crunch.) Unlike most of our competitors, if we are unable to get a carrier assigned within 14 days after the vehicle is available, the customer has the option of leaving their order open or cancelling for a full refund. We did have an available carrier in the area to pickup Mr. Clontz vehicle; however, their rate was more than our quote. Out of consideration for the customer, we did let him know about this particular carrier. We always do our very best to get all vehicles scheduled and picked up as quickly as possible. We appreciate Mr. Clontz and wish him the very best!
