I had what I now know are the usual problems in arranging this transport. Misinformation, obfuscation and perhaps even some dishonesty. I cancelled my existing arrangement (which was doing nothing towards actually getting the car shipped at the agreed price) and started over again with Agape. Candie was honest, well-informed, and capable. The shipment was arranged quickly, at a fair price, and delivery was effected in Utah within the contemplated timeframe. I would, absolutely, use them again, and would recommend them to others.

Anyone who is reading this (who, like I was, is trying to figure this all out) must understand that this business is a bit odd. The bid you get for a shipment is nothing more than a figure that is placed on a register in hopes that some independent carrier will agree to take the shipment for that price. If you use a bidding service they take a percentage and that effectively reduces the amount available for the driver (such that your listing is reduced to a below-market value which is harder to "sell" to a driver). The key, then, is to skip the service and go directly to a company like Agape, which is the actual broker, such that the fees are minimized (or, find the independent driver yourself, but good luck with that). The nice thing about Agape was that they were completely honest about the process and honest about the bid price that had to go into the system to give it a chance of being picked up. Perhaps these difficulties do not arise when you are shipping a car from Los Angeles to New York - but going between two secondary-tier cities is challenging.
