I contracted with advance logistics to move a car from California to Iowa. I signed a contract with Advance and for them to transport my vehicle for $889 and I paid a $200 down payment. My balance owed was $689, and my car was to be picked up on march 18. I called advance and talked to Andy, and he said that I would have to pay another $175 to get the vehicle moved because fuel prices were high, and nobody would do it for the original price. I told him that the agreed price was what it was, and that I would not pay the extra money. Andy said he would see what he could do. 10 days after pickup was promised the vehicle was not picked up, so I emailed Andy and told him that I would like a refund. I did not hear from Advance, but the vehicle was picked up in California. I received a call today, 4/16, and it was a trucking company with my car, and they told me I owed $864 COD. I told the driver that it was $689, because I had given a $200 deposit. Minutes later I received a call from Advance, and they said that someone had called them and ordered a rush pickup on my car and that was an extra $100, and I was responsible for a $75 fuel surcharge. Interesting how that worked out to an extra $175, which was what he wanted extra. I told him that I did not order a "rush" pickup, and that the $100 dollar extra charge was not right. Also the contract stipulates a $50 fuel surcharge, and not $75. I told Andy that i would not pay the extra $100, and he told me that I would not get my car. He also said that I "wasn't going to do anything over $100." I told him that there would be repercussions. Hopefully this complaint will be the repercussion, in the hopes that it will help others in avoiding a negative situation in dealing with this company. YOU WILL GET NICKEL AND DIMED TO DEATH IF YOU USE THIS COMPANY!!

P.S. WHOEVER WRITES REBUTTALS FOR THIS COMPANY SHOULD UNDERSTAND THAT INSANE IS SPELLED WITHOUT AN "I."

To answer this customer in the only language that he would understand, any charge that he paid was fully substantiated in the shipping order terms and conditions and signed for by the customer [fuel surcharge of $75.00, paragraph #3 of the terms and conditions. It is funny that when the customer was signing the agreement there was never a question as to the $75.00, now when the car is getting ready to deliver the customer has a loss of memory and tries to blame us. This customer seems to tell lies one after another, we answer calls from 9am to 10pm eastern time 7 days a week,. Also when our driver called for the pickup he identified himself as a representative of Advance, so if the customer did not want to give us the car, he did not have to. Unfortunately this customer lost his memory when he directed us to have the car picked up by flatbed and brought to a terminal, we informed him that the charge would be $100.00 and he can either pay it directly or we will pay it and it would be added to the cod, he said add it to the cod, now he has a memory blockage in that he does not remember telling us to have the car picked up. We also offered the customer a copy of the invoice for the pickup fee from the tow service, he said that he did not need it. People like this probably try dupping companies like us time after time. This customer had indicated that if I did not take off the $100.00 charge there would be repercussions. We do not nickel and dime anyone to death , we only want the customer what is due so that we can pay the trucker what he is asking for, a customer such as this is only for himself and could not care for anyone but himself.
