We moved from Maryland to New Mexico. The price was good, compared to other brokers, but the broker told us several things that turned out to be false when the actual trucking company called us.

Just to make things clear, Able is a broker, they dont do any transport themselves. But here is what they told us :

1. We can have up to 100 lb of our stuff in the trunk. This turned out to be false; the trucker said they have to cound the pounbds of the cars they transport, so that not only can we not have any stuff in the car, we can only have 1/4 of the tank of gas (something Able didn't bother tell us about).

2. Delivery is door -to-door. This is false. When the trucker brought the car he brought it to a truck stop 20 min away. I asked him why; he pointed out the absurdity of trying to get his 18 wheeler 80 foot rig into a residential neighborhood. I've found out that is actually illegal in Albuquerque, trucks have to unload at truck stops or a park and ride outside of town.

3. Alble said we would have the car delivered in 7-10 days, it came in 12 days. I asked Able if they counted Sundays and holidays, they said they did - but the trucking company did not.

On the plus side, Able only marked up the price $200 over what the trucker charged - the trucker told me he's seen 100%markups by other movers. But you know what? Keep your $200, and deal directly with a trucking company, someone who owns and runs the trucks and will be honest with you. Here's who took our car - Company - Haskins Transport Services (MD) Contact - Pam phone - 276-650-8444 . They may not be the fastest, but they will be straight with you, and they are much cheaper than going through a broker.
