My Unfortunate Experience with AAA Anytime

This company has generally displayed a lack of honesty and competence. Trying their best to secure initial patronage, they continuously misled us and promised us service they knew very well they could not deliver. They were to pick up our vehicle on a Sunday or Monday and after not hearing from them at all, I called to inquire about the whereabouts of the driver. They ensured me the driver would be showing up within the next couple of hours, so I had my car packed with all of my valuables and parked it in front of my building in Manhattan. Four hours later they called to inform me the driver was "stuck in weather". Not completely forlorn, I figured that meant the driver was 6 or 7 hours behind schedule. To my utter astonishment, they informed me that the driver would not be showing up for another three days!! Clearly, the lack of communication here was unacceptable and unprofessional. I was leaving out of New York the next day and had not planned to stay there and babysit my car for another three days. I, thus, had to cancel my flight (losing $170 for the meantime) and wait helplessly for the company to call back with info about another driver. They called a day later informing me that they had found another driver that would be there the next day. They assured me he'd be calling me that day. I, of course, never received a phone call. The next day, I called the company at which time they gave me the number to the driver. I called him and he informed me he'd told them two days ago he would not be able to pick up my car because he had no room for it on the truck. After this, my instincts led me to visit the Best Business Bureau site and research the company there. I was not completely surprised to find they had a "F" grade delineating numerous complaints, unresolved complaints, and government actions against them. I immediately decided to look around for another company and write AAA Anytime Inc off as a really bad outfit. As of now, they have refused to refund our $300 deposit.

A small part of me feels a bit sorry for this company who describes itself as "family-owned". Perhaps it is hard to manage cars and orders with little capital and small means to advertise. However, sympathy and support would come in many forms to this company if they were more honest and willing to compensate for mistakes and shortcomings which greatly inconvenience their customers. Otherwise, it just looks like they are scamming, lying, and ripping people off. And this is totally not cool in such times as these.
