I shipped a motorcycle from Southern California to NY State using AA Motorcycle Transport, for a motorcycle trip that I had planned on the East Coast. I shipped the bike with over 3 weeks of lead time before my trip, thinking that would be sufficient time for the bike to get to NY before I flew to NY. I paid AA upfront with the understanding that the company would pick up the bike and have it delivered door to door no later than June 4th. From my initial dealings with AA Motorcycle Transport, I realized I had picked a lousy company to ship my bike. After payment I received an email stating that there was no contract regarding delivery dates and AA does not guarantee delivery dates whatsoever. AA was then 3 days late past the scheduled pick up date for my motorcycle. I wasted a good part of those 3 days waiting for a truck to show up, only to call and be told they would pick up the following day. When AA finally made the pickup, I was told that the delay in no way would affect the delivery date. A few days later, I received an email where I could enter a tracking number into a 3rd party trucking/freight company, in this case, Specialized Transportation Incorporated (STI). The tracking system showed my motorcycle was in New Jersey, 4 hours away from its intended destination, but the “provisional” delivery date was after my planned trip would have already been over. When I contacted AA regarding this, they stated it was out of their hands, and told me to contact STI. After contacting STI, I decided the sooner I recovered my motorcycle, the better, and told STI to hold my motorcycle at their New Jersey shipping hub. Ultimately I flew to the East Coast and spend 8 hours of my vacation, driving to/from New Jersey to pick up my motorcycle. The bottom line is that you cannot count on AA Motorcycle Transport to follow through on pick up dates, delivery dates, door to door delivery, customer service or any other service they advertise. If you need a motorcycle shipped, don’t use AA Motorcycle Transport!
