Damage, Poor Communications, Tricky driver

Made arrangements through Wheeler brokerage. Baron’s Driver arrived several hours late after getting lost. We reviewed delivery dates in great detail with driver. Driver promised that the car would be delivered shortly after September 1 and that it would not have to be stored or delayed. Our Lexus ES300 was in pristine shape: waxed and perfectly clean. Held inspection with driver, James Henderson. Baron’s truck was not in great shape, but it was our first experience, so we let it go.

My college son took delivery at the other end. He was told several different delivery times in early September, but none were kept. Instead of being delivered directly as promised, the car sat in New Jersey for a week or so. When our phone calls were not returned, I finally was able to obtain a delivery date by going back through the broker. Ike Khan claimed in a voice mail that there was a 'mix up in communications" about delivery, and their truck had a flat tire. At delivery, the car was found to be filthy. When my son started the inspection, the driver insisted that the car was too dirty to inspect, that my son had to wash it, and he had three days to submit a claim. The car was so filthy that my son took his word for it, paid, signed off, washed the car, and sent me a list of the damage. Damage to the car consisted of numerous scratches and new paint chips, some on the top of the truck with red paint embedded.

I faxed in the list of damage for a claim, and Ike Khan faxed back a total denial. He claimed that no driver would ever try to get a customer to sign off without an inspection. He implied my son had done all the damage himself. Mr. Khan did not return phone calls.
