No, I am not a competitor of Dependable Automotive Transport (DAT). I am simply a former customer. David told my father face to face that all these bad reviews were posted by competition. No way. In 55 years, after 15 years of teaching students with emotional disabilities, and fighting in two wars, I have NEVER been treated with such disrespect and arrogance as I was with the driver known as David.
This part is unbelievable...David actually picked up my 1955 Cadillac Coup DeVille in Brockport, NY, and ON HIS OWN ACCORD, brought it all the way to Jamestown, NY instead of its original destination of Webster, NY. This was a difference of over 100 miles. Apparently, David has a sales lot there and was trying to unload the car "for me"...without authorization!
I finally gave him a chance to sell the vehicle. "Steve, I got a guy who is REALLY HOT for your car." and... There is a show this weekend and Jay Leno is going to be around" and...I got a guy who has a buyer in Dubai...he'll have the money tomorrow...Just a lot of Bull-puckey.Then I called a State Trooper friend of mine and he told me that if the transporter keeps it on his lot for a certain number of days (depending on the value of the vehicle), he can take possession of it as an "abandoned" vehicle. This is why the man was stringing me on day after day.He was either doing this or setting up a distribution network for the many valuable parts.
Towards the end of this months'-long ordeal, David began to get very hostile on the phone. For example, he said over the phone as my father was listening, "You don't realize who the f*** you're talking to. You don't tell me what to f****** do!" Then he slammed the phone down. A display of abundant maturity.
Finally, he would not deliver the vehicle to its original destination of Webster, NY without a substantial charge.. So I had him transport it 2/3 of the way for a whopping cash payment of $339.63. The men who actually delivered the vehicle charged another $100 cash to drive it to Webster where it should have gone to for free in the first place. So now I have to file a claim to recover my $439.63.
David and DAT have ruined any expectation of quality service. It boggles my mind that a company like DAT and employees like David can stay in business.
