I went through Hilton Car Transport, which was a good company. The transporter, however, wasn't the greatest. Here's my story.
Moving an audi A4 from New Jersey to Colorado. I called very early so that we would have enough lead time. I didn't need the express rate, but she suggested that I pay it anyway because the more you pay, the better the chances are that you're going to get what you wanted. Fine by me, I never mind paying a little extra to get things just right. She calls and says she's located a transporter that will pick up Fri/Sat for drop-off Tues/Wed. Perfect, right? Well, the guy shows up on Saturday afternoon and tells us that he has another car to get in the northeast before leaving and won't hit the road until Monday but that it'll be there on Wed/Thurs. Just fine by us, really. Wednesday comes and goes with nothing, not a word. No big deal. Thursday comes and almost goes with no word, so we call the driver even though we were told by this company to NEVER call the driver (weird, huh?). He tells us that he doesn't speak English, but that he's stuck at a weigh station and will be there on Friday. Sure, no problem. Friday comes and almost goes with no word, so I call him again. He says the same thing almost verbatim: that he doesn't speak English but that he's at a weight station and will be there Saturday. Hmm. Anyway, the car does show up on Saturday evening about 9 pm. The driver actually speaks great English, it turns out. He unloads the car and points out some streaks on the roof of the car that he says are from the sap of low-hanging tree branches (our car was on the top level). He swears that they will just wash off. I'm just happy to have the car, so I say sure, no problem. So I wash the car, and guess what? They don't wash off. They're true scratches. I call Nichole right away once I realize this. She requests that I email pictures to her which I do immediately. Unfortunately, I didn't note the problem on the bill of lading because the driver told me it wouldn't be a problem. Shame on me for believing him. She has been good to me and refunded some of my money but the company isn't being very cooperative.
