I shipped two cars with Leon Auto Transport. One arrived with almost $3000 of rock chip damage. Upon delivery, the driver tried to prevent me from doing an inspection of that vehicle even though they provide a sheet where you do a before and after inspection. I was told I just needed to sign the paper stating I received the cars back. I told him I would sign it, but I was also going to notate the damage on the one vehicle. I signed the piece of paper (which was on a clipboard) and began to notate the damage in the inspection column when the driver pulled the clipboard from my hands and began walking away. A gentleman friend that was with me was able to get the paper back from him so I could add my comments to it. This made the driver upset and he stated that if I notate the damage, it would hurt his rating. He then removed the paper from the clipboard to show me that there was a backside of the paper which states that they are not responsible for any damages. Why do a before and after inspection if they are not responsible for anything?

The past two months have been spent trying to get the owner of the company to help pay for at least part of the damages. She has been very rude and just says "Take me to court" then hangs up. After I filed a complaint with the DOT and the broker that hired Leon Auto filed a complaint as well, the owner contacted me and was trying to be cooperative as the complaints have hurt her business. She now blames the damage on a hail storm but I find it odd that there are no dents where the rock chips are nor was there damage to the other car I had shipped which was right next to the car that was damaged. She offered to pay me $270 if I would have the negative comment removed. I told her I would like at least $1040.00 which would pay for my $500 deductible (since my insurance is the one paying to have the car repaired) and two weeks of rental car for $540. She said she was not willing to pay that amount and would only pay the $270.00 The sad thing is that she only offered this small amount in hopes of getting her rating back up, not to take care of the customer.
