I was very apprehensive about choosing a company over the internet. I read reviews posted and Ship a Car Direct showed very high reviews. Looked on the Better Business Bureau online and they were accredited, and read over the good reviews and some of the complaints. It seems most people seemed satisfied, and in my situation in which they were transporting an antique car of mine, I was concerned about damaging the vehicle, since it is not easily repaired for being 38 years old.
Please be advised that Ship a Car Direct is not a transport company, they are a transport broker. They put your vehicle transport up for bid, and wait to see who puts in for the bid. I imagine they have a list of acceptable transporters, and unacceptable transporters.
Initially, I filled out the online application for a quote, and in this case Tom from Ship a Car Direct responded by email. I continued to research other companies online, and Tom continued to send emails of videos and success stories of satisfied customers. Finally I called Tom, and it was a simple process. Since I was currently in Tennessee and the car was being stored by a friend in Pennsylvania, I left very specific instructions to contact my friend in PA to coordinate the pick-up. 1st Transport company that accepted the bid, did not follow those instructions, and the driver called me direct planning a pick-up early in a morning, without having discussed with my friend in PA. I had to inform that company the pick-up was not going to happen. I contacted Tom at Ship A Car Direct, being fearful that I just lost my deposit of $225, and he assured me that I did not, and that he will find another company. The second company G-Star Transport contacted my Friend in PA and arranged the pickup, and the driver called me that afternoon, to inform me that he would have the car delivered the next day in Tennessee by the evening. The next day the driver called me from about 1.5 hours away from my home in Tennessee, and he made it right on time. The car was delivered with no damage and from accepting to delivering took a total of 7 days in this case.

Thank you for the thorough review, Ryan! You are exactly right - we have a list of stellar carriers and a list of carriers we refuse to use, and we track carrier performance. Reviews like yours help us determine which carriers stay on the good list and which get moved to the "do not use" list.
