Carrier assigned by 360 Auto Transport. First time auto move.

I had made an Autotrader.com purchase from a private seller in AZ and chose 360 Auto Transport for my auto transport move from AZ to MA. This carrier was assigned by 360 Auto Transport (see my review). Freight Port Inc. is associated with VIP Haul and it was VIP Haul that picked up and transported my car.

Overall, the process from pick up to drop off went according to promise. The car was picked up on 5/4/09, one day before the expected pick up window of 5/5/09- 5/7/09 and it was dropped off at my house on the 10th day (estimated 7-10 days for delivery). When I called Freight Port directly, they provided me with the phone number of the driver. I did have difficulty understanding what the driver was saying (heavy accent) but he was courteous and accommodated my request that the car be delivered early in the morning (6-7am but it showed up at 8am) if possible so I could go to work on time. That worked out well.

One thing that did bother me about this transport was that my car was initially put on a 10 car carrier by a guy (different from the one who delivered it) who clearly did not know how to drive a stick shift. The seller took video of the smoke cloud generated when the clutch was burnt and sent it to me. Yes, I was a bit horrified. On delivery, the driver (someone different) drove my car off a two car trailer and parked it in my driveway just fine.

I don't know when drivers were changed or how many times my car was moved on and off a truck. I can only hope that it didn't happen too much. The transmission seems to be okay though.

Because my car was moved on an open transport, it arrived covered in dead bugs. The entire rear of the vehicle is plastered in it (it's actually kind of impressive in a disgusting way). I expected I would have to clean it up when it arrived so that's not a big deal.

My recommendation: If you have an automatic that you are moving, you're all set. These guys are prompt about moving your car and will accommodate your schedule. If you have a manual transmission vehicle, you might want to inquire about the driver's capabilities to make sure that they won't stress your transmission during the trip.
