So the basic story goes as usual. I got a quote from a KNOWN competitor and they gave me the best quote. Of course, I was thrilled at the price - they quoted me half. Seemed like a no-brainer right? Wrong!
I called the competitor 3 weeks in advance to schedule a car pick up in Pennsylvania so it could be transported to Florida. I was told, "No problem. Since you are calling so far in advance, we can guarantee (yes that's right, guarantee) the date of pick up and a 48 window. I said, "Great!". I purchased my plane ticket and flew to Pittsburgh, got the car ready to be picked up and waited, and waited and waited. I called about 1,000 times and when they would answer the phone they gave me the run-around and a different story each time. Everything from, it is being processed now, I can see them processing the order now, they will call you in an hour to confirm… the list goes on and on.
Finally after waiting 3 days with NO RESPONSE and oh, they didn't mention they close for the weekends and my car was to be picked up on a Saturday! At this point, I was desperate because I had to fly back to FL on Monday morning at 5:30am.
So I went looking for help and found DIY. They immediately picked up the phone on a Saturday - yep, saturday - listened to my horror story and then educated me on how the process works which was they could see my name on the order board but oh, my file hadn't even been touched by the so-called competitor who took my deposit. Needless to say I was livid as I was duped and frankly, cheated.
After venting to DIY who also informed me that they get 2-3 calls a day about this vendor who is consistently duping people, they went into action to help me resolve my immediate crisis. Garrett, who was my POC, not only got my job listed on the top of the list but called me after hours to keep me posted on the progress of my transport request. On Sunday, his day off, he called me again to check on me and give me the update on the transport (who was coming, when etc…).
Lo and behold, SUCCESS due to Garrett and his team! My car was picked up and delivered from PA to FL in two days! There were no hidden costs, they came through, consistently kept me abreast of the situation and followed up upon delivery. I spoke to and received calls from several people in DIY who all had the professionalism and care like I was family. Thank you Garrett and DIY!
If you need a company to do what they say they are going to do, give you a great price, follow through and deliver on what they promise then I HIGHLY recommend DIY! But more importantly, represent professionalism and good business ethics.
The moral of this story is, you pay for what you get and do not hire a competitor whose name begins with the letter "S". They give the profession a bad name and are unethical. Oh, did I mention that after the order was canceled within the legal timeframe of 48 hours they attempted several times to run my credit card through.
You want success, hire DIY. I will if I need to move any car again they are the only transporter I am calling.
