Because I requested a fully enclosed carrier, it took longer than usual for Montway Auto Transport to arrange for someone to pick up the car, but the price- over $2000- meant that it would be attractive to the carriers who had these enclosed rigs. They were up front with this and I fully understood why, since over 80% of carriers are open. When I saw the enclosed carrier at delivery, it is basically an open carrier with heavy cloth sides and a rigid clamshell tail piece. I was not in any hurry to get the car but just wanted it intact, undamaged, and fully protected by insurance in case of any loss. Some of the jargon on Montway's site seemed to indicate that claims for damage were quite limited unless the vehicle was transported fully enclosed. Montway's dispatch representative said otherwise, but I felt more secure paying an additional $500. I was prepared to pay extra for the service because the vehicle I was transporting was unique- a stock 1991 Toyota MR2 Turbo in essentially mint condition. The only hiccup in the process was when the carrier, OK Auto Transport, called the seller of the vehicle for the very first time and told him that they would be picking it up in 90 minutes. He had to leave work an hour early to accommodate them and met them at a large parking lot (these carriers are HUGE!). I called Montway and asked them to relate to the carrier that I would appreciate some advance warning on my end. When I got the carrier's information I also called them and told the driver that I would not be able to take delivery on a weekend. He was unhappy with this but said that he would call me back when he got closer. On my end the vehicle arrived almost a week earlier than anticipated- yes, on a Saturday. I was so happy to be getting the vehicle early that I also left work early to meet the driver, Max, who called me to say that he would be meeting me at a local auto auction yard. I inspected the vehicle which was immaculate from my perspective but every small ding and flea bite on the windshield and paint had been recorded on the bill of lading. There were so many lines and circles on the diagram that the car probably could have been destroyed and they would have told me "See?" But it wasn't like that at all. The car matched my auction pictures and the seller's description to a T, and it was clean! Everything was intact. The driver provided me with a screwdriver in order to rig the car with a license plate for the drive home, and he was cheerful and upbeat. Overall I'm very satisfied with the entire process and would recommend Montway Auto Transport and OK Auto Carrier without reservation.
