My experience with this company was somewhat mixed. This was my first PCS with my husband, and we needed to ship my car from California to North Carolina. I requested a quote around a month in advance, so that there would be plenty of time for my car to get shipped before my flight. My shipping agent Dustin called me the very next day; very polite, and was quick to send me the paperwork. Initial quote was reasonable, and I’d heard good things from other military friends, so decided to stick with this company. About a week went by and I heard nothing, so I emailed Dustin. He answered right away, assured me that all was fine, and that bids don’t usually come in until a few days before ship date because drivers don’t book that far ahead. Made sense to me, so I didn’t push it further. Fast forward two more weeks, I emailed Dustin, nothing. Called to ask (Dustin didn’t answer his line) was told there were no bids, and I’d need to up the price if I wanted it faster. I declined, and waited. Emailed Dustin a couple days before my flight, no answer. Called the company (no answer on Dustin’s line again), and was told by another agent there were still no bids. Thankfully my parents were able to hold my car for me, or I would’ve been in trouble. I sent a very long lengthy email explaining the situation and my frustrations to the main company email, and finally a couple days later (about 10 days after my first initial pickup date) I get a call from Graham saying they finally got one bid, for $500 over the initial quote. I agreed at this point because I just wanted my car, but was admittedly very frustrated. Finally, over a month after my first pickup date, I have my car. I doubt I’ll ever need to ship my car again, I only had to due to the unique nature of this PCS, but if I did, I don’t think I’d use Amerifreight. My husband used another company that he called very last minute, and he got his car faster and cheaper and at the initial price quote. I don’t know if I just got screwed with Dustin (Graham was VERY polite and helpful!) or if the timing was off or what, but the whole thing just left a sour taste in my mouth. At least I FINALLY have my car and it’s undamaged! By the way, the transport service they connected me to was CAA Transport. They were a few hours late to pickup my car from my parents, and ended up being 11 days late deliver my car (total transport time of 3 weeks versus the original ‘guaranteed’ 7-10 days). This part, of course, isn’t Amerifreight’s fault, but if possible I’d avoid getting connected to CAA Transport, they were pretty awful.
