We initially agreed to use another shipper, ShipMyCarOnLine in Florida, which required a downpayment of approximately $195 at the making of the contract. Its contract had quite a few "gottcha" provisions. That company never got the car shipped in an acceptable way, but rather, kept the money, and tried to get another contract out of us, with another downpayment. I won't go into the details on that, but we did some research before selecting another company, and decided on AmeriFreight, which had among the best reviews and seemed the best shipping agent. The agent we used was helpful, courteous, and patient, as the car had a dead battery and was being shipped by a student who was very busy. The cost of shipping the car as non-working was a little high, so we got the car running, then asked the broker to try to find a shipper again. The cost was higher than we had hoped, at $1200 from a small town in North Carolina to northern Utah, but it came without problems. The broker explained that truckers don't like shipping from that part of No. Carolina, and Utah is an undesirable trucking destination. I would recommend this firm to others seeking a reliable auto shipping service based on my experience and limited knowledge. This was my first experience with shipping a car using a third-party transport service.
