This was my first time trying to ship my car, and as a recent graduate with not a lot of money or experience with shipping, this was a very stressful and frightening experience. Trying to avoid fraudulent companies or scams, I decided to call a lot of different companies and try to get the most information and find the best price to ship my car, since my budget was tight. When ShipMyCar contacted me, they gave me a quote of $745. I thought this was a relatively reasonable price and Sarah made a good sell. However, I was VERY adamant that I was just looking for now and that I wanted to shop around a lot more. She understood and said that if I wanted, she could put up my information to the car carriers and try to find me the best price. She said I was under NO obligation to use them as a broker, and that I was not under any obligation to make ANY payments whatsoever. She specifically repeated SEVERAL times that they could not charge my card without my authorization. She told me that in order to put my car in the system, ONLY for the purposes of 'shopping around' I needed to sign a terms and conditions contract, and provide a credit card for them to have on file to verify my identity. Again, I asked SPECIFICALLY if this meant I was obligated to use them as a broker OR make any payments, and she said NO. I informed her that I was on the road at the time, so she knew I wouldn't be able to read the contract. She DID NOT tell me that this contract was in fact a 7-DAY CONTRACT where they had exclusive rights to my car, and that if I decided not to use them as brokers then I would be in fact charged a $195 cancellation fee. Over the next few days I was bombarded with calls from MANY different people in the company, not just the original one I spoke with, and they kept giving me DIFFERENT numbers that were way higher than the original one I was quoted for, so I kept turning down offers, because it wasn't what they told me. However, I kept getting pressured by their employers to go with their offers, and they were very pushy. I started feeling very uncomfortable with their sales representatives and ended up going with a different broker that didn't have any of their wishy-washy back and forth bullshit. When I informed them that I ended up going with a different driver, they informed me that I was in a LOCKED contract with them and would have to pay the price! Their sales representatives directly lied to me when I asked her if I was locked into anything, and Alex (who is very manipulative) said that I was stupid to not have read the terms and conditions. I said that I was directly misled to believe that what I 'agreed' to was for them to put my car up for carriers to look at, and that I was specifically told multiple times BY HIS EMPLOYEES that I was under NO financial obligations, even if I didn't use their company. The other broker I did decide to go with even said that what he was doing was basically scamming me and I could dispute the charges. When I told Alex that I would dispute the charges if they dared try to charge me, Alex said that he didn't even care if his employees lied to me because I had no written proof of the things that they told me. Such bullshit. He also kept changing his numbers- first the contract says $125 dollar cancellation fee, then 5 minutes later it was $195, then it was $75, and then back to $195. 5-minutes after our very stressful conversation I see a $195 fee on my bank account, which I will do anything in my power to dispute.

These people kept changing their numbers, tried to bully be into using their company, and LIED to me when I asked them direct questions about the contract I was signing. Then they told me they didn't care if I disputed the charges or wrote a bad review on this website because THEY had my money, and there's nothing I could do about it because I didn't have their lies in writing. I am so disappointed and angry with my experience with their company and trying to ship my car in general. I would rather sell my car and buy a new one then try to go through another process like this one.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Their broker's fee is 3 times what other companies' fees are and they LIE to poor female college students and rob them of their money.

Stephanie, I apologize for the lack of understanding that you had when booking with us. When I had spoken to you and booked you I did not specific that you were "free to shop around" as at that point I would not have booked you. We do not book customers who plan on booking with multiple brokers. When I had booked you I checked to make sure you were not with any other broker as this would create complications and competition. Our contract is short, industry standard, and easy to understand. You did not tell me you were on the road all the time and I never assumed you could not read the contract. At the very least the contract reminds you of the priority terms and conditions for your benefit before you are able to sign. The only bold sections are the sections stating that we gave you an estimate based on the information provided and that you cannot be booked with another broker and it will affect any cancellation fees. I have to disagree with everything you have said. I'm sorry you feel as if you were taken advantage of, but we called you with every driver we found ourselves and every driver that called in. When we called you with a carrier you then informed us you had a different broker after we spent an entire day finding the best price for you. You were actually listed on the board with several other brokers. It is not fair to our company's business to post such a misleading review as we worked particularly hard on your order.
