After researching on-line, I opted to go with Pristine Auto Carriers. Monique described the business and informed me that they own their own tractors and have team drivers. I requested a team so that I could have a 5 day cross country shipment. I paid the $200 upfront fee as requested by Pristine (don't ever do that). Two days before pickup, I was called by FHT informing me that they had been given the contract to carry my car. Making matters worse...they gave me a spread of days rather than the originally agreed upon day to pick up. Timing was essential as movers were coming and other coordination had to be made. They then informed me that they did not have team drivers and rather than 5 days, it would take 8 to 12 days and that the car would be off-loaded at some other place and put on a short haul rig to actually deliver it.
Car arrived nearly 11 days later, covered in dirt and oil, and the right hand mirror was folded back and was scrapped. They, of course denied any claim.... the damage was rather minor. The driver was a bit angry that I had not paid everything up front.... so i paid him in cash and made his sign a receipt for the payment. Total cost.... $1,175 for transporting a car and $300 for a rental that I would not have had to do otherwise. Monique? Never answered the phone after I had been sub out to FHT.
