The below email was received from FreightCenter.com a week after my shipment arrived and was unpacked.

"I wanted to inform you that Averitt Express found an additional weight on your shipment from Hamilton, Ohio to Tomball, Texas. The Bill of Lading stated a declaration of 245lbs for the shipment. The actual weight was 465lbs resulting in an additional billing of $203.77 which will be applied to the credit card on file. "

This china cabinet was vintage/antique and no manufacturers shipment weight was available. The cabinet was packed into boxes by one person. The UPS Pack and Ship who packaged weighed it and then added for the packaging. There is no way one person could have done this had the cabinet weighed 465 lbs! This is clearly a bait and switch!

My husband and the driver carried it quite some distance from the street to our home. I carried two very small boxes with the crown piece and the small shelves by myself.

I filed a resolution claim with FreightCenter.com. Their employee asked that I obtain a letter from the packager and that would settle the matter. I obtained it and sent it to them. They now want a certified weight, which of course I cannot now provide or an official shipping weight from the manufacturer, which is no longer available as the piece is some 30 years old. I am totally at their mercy as neither of these are available and they know it. Easy to require something they know full well cannot be provided.

Once they get you on the hook, you are obviously at their mercy with no recourse. I will never again use this company!
