An Extremely Poor Experience

After purchasing my vehicle out of state, I used autotransportdepot.com to get quotes for shipping my vehicle from Washington to Ohio. I received several quotes ranging from $745 to $1050. I foolishly chose the least expensive one that Stateway Auto Transport gave me. The entire experience was a negative one. I spent 26 days fearing the worst for my new car.

The commitment to me was to have my vehicle picked up in 1-7 days, then have it delivered in 5 days. It took 12 days to pick it up and 14 days from the day of pick up to be delivered. I understand that things can happen on the "open road", but to promise unrealistic timeframes to get your business is unethical. They made it worse by denying they gave those timeframes. Also, their website promised a "Reliable Vehicle Tracking System" with satellite images of my vehicle 24/7. Untrue. I was unable to get any information using the system. I'm not sure how they can advertise that and simply say that service is unavailable to me.

After the vehicle was picked up in 12 days, I was told that their truck broke down and they put it on one with another carrier, NAO Auto. If I had done research on this company, I would never have entrusted them with my vehicle. NAO Auto had countless complaints and poor online reviews. Search their company on this site and others to confirm this.

All of this was going on without ANY call from either company. The only way I received information was by consistantly calling them. They did not return voicemails and I would only get through about 1 in 5 attempts. I spent a lot of time on hold.

Each contact I had with Stateway Auto Transport consisted of excuses and lies. On 4 separate days where they said my car would arrive, I heard nothing from them. It was me having to call them to find out that yet another promised date would not be met. Had they communicated honestly with me and not set unrealistic timeframes, I would not be taking the time to help others avoid an extremely poor experience with this company.

Another commitment that wasn't kept was that I was told I would get a call from the driver to arrange the drop-off a day before he arrived. I received a call from the driver when he was 20 minutes away. Very inconvenient since I needed to arrange a ride to the pickup point.

To top off this negative experience my vehicle arrived with 5 miles driven on it. The driver said this wasn't possible... even as I was looking at the odometer that had 5 more miles on it then when it left the dealership.

My suggestion to others planning on having a vehicle shipped is to NOT choose the least expensive quote, and more specifically, DO NOT CHOOSE STATEWAY AUTO TRANSPORT.

AVOID THIS COMPANY and avoid a lot of problems with shipping your vehicle.
