Subject: Damage to Transported Vehicle
Review:I’m submitting this and asking that any reader understands this is my experience only.

The following is only one of many e-mails to Angels concerning damage to my 2006 Mercedes-Benz 280SLK while in the possession of Elik Transportation but summarizes what happened.

“Hello Karyn,
Last night I spent twenty minutes on the phone with Sarnas, who is the wife of the owner of
the trucking company contracted to deliver my car from Glenwood Springs, CO to
Marblehead, MA.
She told me her husband was very angry and, at first, implied that I was trying to blame them
for damage to my car because, in her husbands’ opinion, the damage was there when they
took delivery of the car in Glenwood Springs. Apparently, he got this misinformation from
Mike, the driver, and her husband’s anger was toward me.
What really happened when the car was delivered to Mike in Glenwood Springs was this: he
inspected it thoroughly and saw a hair line scratch that I was not aware of. The scratch is
located on the right rear quarter panel behind the right wheel well. I agreed with him that it
was there and that he did not see any other damage. Again, he inspected the car thoroughly
and I was impressed that he did. Mike, obviously, did not want to be responsible for any
damage he did not cause. He asked me to sign the document stating that the only damage
was, in fact, the hairline scratch mentioned above. I signed it. He walked away with the
document clipped to his clip board. He did not give me a copy.
During my conversation with Sarnas it became clear the misinformation, which caused her
husband’s anger toward me could only have come from Mike. Sarnas told me Mike told her
husband I took the document from him in Glenwood Springs and the scratches on the car
you’ve seen in the pictures I sent you, and you forwarded to the trucking company, were on
the car in Glenwood Springs and that was noted on the document I signed in Glenwood
Springs. Both these statements by Mike are lies. I don’t use the word “lie” easily. Again, both
these statements are lies. My car, except for the hairline scratch noted above, was flawless
when Mike took it.
What is unfortunate here is this is following a delivery process riddled with problems, all of
which I’ve stated to you and Sarah and don’t need repeating here.
I have no problem signing any kind of affidavit attesting the facts and truth of what I have
stated above.
I expect the trucking company and Angels will do the right thing by acknowledging the truth
and correct the damage to my car.”

I discovered, today, because of my decision to now file an insurance claim in the wake of no action on the part Elik Transportation (which, I was told by Angels, is the company I must file a claim against) that I “cannot file a claim against neither Elik Transportation nor Angels. It is Angels that is responsible to me for the damages to my vehicle because Angels is the company I contracted with to transport the vehicle, not Elik Transportation”. This information came to me from two insurance adjusters I was told to call by Hub International (the insurance broker for Elik Transportation, brokers for Lloyds of London the holders of the policy for Elik Transportation).

Angels disputes that they are responsible and as of this date are calling the two adjusters.

I have never posted anything on the web and, as I said at the beginning of this post any reader understands that this is my experience only.

As best I can, I will add updates to this posting as the facts warrant.
