This was a first-time experience for me. I was very nervous. Got about 5 quotes. I chose Red Carpet Auto based on their reviews in transportreviews.com. Their initial price was good: not the cheapest, but not the most expensive. It took a while to find a carrier. I was in constant communication with Barbara, who kept me apprised of the situation. At the time (Snowbird season), there were 4000 cars waiting to be shipped out of Florida. Due to gas prices, drivers were getting scarce and commanding a higher price. I had not booked in advance... something that I haved leaned for next time. The only way that I could attract a shipper was to willingly increase my offer, which was still within the range of the quotes I had received.
The trucking company that shipped my car was A&D Trucking, based in Michigan. The driver was Doug Quirie. Highly recommended! He was personable and very cooperative. He kept me informed along the way, just as he said he would. He arrived 2.5 hours earlier than his ETA. The car was dirty (due to a weather system along the way) but otherwise in good condition. A quick car wash and all was well!
The people at Red Carpet were ALL personable and pleasant to deal with. When Barbara wasn't there, another rep would respond and treat me as though I were her own customer. They returned phone calls too!
The 29-day waiting time was a matter of circumstances, and does not reflect negatively on Red Carpet. When treated well and cordially, as I was by Barbara, Candice and the other Red Carpet reps, it is much easier to deal with the circumstances that are beyond everyone's contol.
I would definitely deal with Red Carpet (Barbara in particular) and A&D Trucking again.
