i will say that speciality was appox. $200 more than other companies i looked at.
The reason i agreed to use them came after booking another company. the company i booked with charged $650. two weeks after pickup scheduled date- they dropped the price to $625. They still had not come to get the car & three weeks after i was told car should be picked up. i cancelled the order- within 20 min. of cancelling they told me they were sending a truck to get my car NOW. i told them to forget it- figured they would come get it so they don't loose order and probably part it in a parking lot- then i would really be screwed- i wouldn't have control of the car.
I checked out better business on Speciality- excellent rating and best yet, only 6 complaints over 3 years. looked at other transport companies and complaints typically in the hundreds.
I believe, and butter business agrees in their disclaimer that this is a pretty dirty business.
ALL contracts state that there are NO PROMISES and that once car is picked up, all responsibility gets transferred directly to the transport carrier company-a company your broker/carrier contracted to pick up the car and deliver it. Company you hired can wash their hands of any responsibility from this point onward.
I spoke to the owned of Speciality, Don - he didn't mince his words- he was straight shooter and because of this i felt confident i was hiring the correct company. He would not budge on the price, telling me this is what needs to be paid to get one of the companies he deals with- to have interest in moving my car. Deisel fuell was going up up up (up to $5 in NY) , snowbirds were migrating north for the summber by the zillions- made aense to me.
Car pickup was 3 hours off the mark, delivery of car was 3 hours off the mark. I was in cell phone contact with the driver from almost the day he left Fl..
Car arrived safe and sound.
Drive was nice and has taken great pains to create comprehensive damage repoort on car condition before transport. I signed, gave him his $$$ - and was very saitified with both Speciality and the company they brokered the business out to.
Discovered that my trust was not mis directed. In this business, that is a rarity.
