Reviewed:1st Call Auto Haul
Subject: Jeep Move
Review:Don't get overcharged my total quote was 1211.95 for an "inop" Jeep (battery dead) ... Eric will claim their is a lot of competition and he needs a high quote to get a carrier to pickup your shipment. And then the driver will arrive and tell you how he only gets 550 out of the 1000 feet and immediatley deposits 450 back to the broker. That I consider dishonest on Erics part. That means 1st Call Autohall took 450 + 211.95 from me to ship my vehicle. Essentially 600 dollars to make some phone calls. 40 Cents per mile is an acceptable price don not accept anything more.

Bumper was also bent but thats neither here nor there and not a big deal.

Dear John,

I have tried in vain to reach you regarding this post. I think you greatly misrepresented yourself here, and by not calling me back and resolving this like a gentleman, you leave me no choice but to explain to everyone what a complete fraud you are. You not only shame yourself, but you shame all military personnel when you make remarks like this and don’t have the guts to stand behind your words.

First, I‘d like to tell everyone about our initial conversations:
1. John called on May 15th, 2007 complaining that he’d tried to have his vehicle picked up by several other brokers, only to have those other brokers mislead him and ultimately tell him they could not pick up his vehicle.
2. I asked him several questions to get to the root of why carriers were having such difficulty picking up his vehicle. John’s response was that the battery did not work. That sounded like too simple a reason so I probed further, inquiring if the vehicle still had the ability to roll, steer and brake. His response was yes, the vehicle rolls, steers, and brakes, it is parked in an apartment complex parking lot, and my fellow military friends can help push the vehicle to an angle where the carrier can easily winch it up onto the truck. I also asked if he had modified his vehicle at all with a lift kit or bigger tires or anything that would scare of a would-be carrier. His response was “No, nothing modified.” At that point, I asked him if anyone at the point of origin could go buy a battery, because the cost to replace the battery is much cheaper than the cost to haul an inoperable vehicle. He said he could not ask anyone to do that, so I quoted him a price to move his inoperable CJ-7 from Virginia to Corpus Christi, TX. The price was $1211.95.
3. I also spoke to him about the congestion of this route. This time of year, the majority of transports originate from the Northeast & Mid-Atlantic States. Their destinations are often the same locations: California, Arizona, and Texas.
4. John asked how long it would take to locate a carrier and I told him less than 4 days, with the transit time from pick-up to destination as approximately 6 days.
5. John seemed impressed and at that point he booked his order online.

The following day:
1. 1st Call Auto Haul located an enclosed carrier that was able to pick up in a few hours and deliver 2 days later. John could not organize his buddies in time, so we located another carrier, Avid Transport, which would pick up later that evening and deliver in Corpus Christi 1500 miles away 3 days after pick-up.
2. We made the arrangements with the carrier, informed John of the impending transport, and gave him the summary of transit times, phone numbers, and fees due upon delivery. The breakdown was $1000 to Avid Transport for their services, and $211
John gave 1st Call Auto Haul a rating of:
