Beware of their name change - they're actually Consolidated Auto Transport

Buyer beware - "Universal Transport Services" is the same company as "Consolidated Auto Transport", which has wall-to-wall negative reviews on this site: http://www.transportreviews.com/company/consolidated-auto-transport.asp.

When I contacted Universal / Consolidated, I was quoted $1095 for a move by an exceedingly polite and attentive agent. When I gave them my credit card information, they told me the car would be picked up within four days, then promptly disappeared. Two weeks later, I got a call telling me that the move would cost $500 more than I was quoted - an increase of almost 50%. I asked that the transaction be cancelled instead, but two days later, they have yet to refund my money.

For comparison's sake, after ditching Universal / Consolidated, I called another broker, Transport Connection, who found me a carrier within a few hours that was willing to do the job for $200 less than Universal's second quote. Unbelievable.

Universal Transport Services Inc. has taken ownership of Consolidated Auto Transport Services. In doing so, we have had to take the good with the bad. We apologize for any inconvenience that has been caused to this customer. However, this customer has never signed with Universal Transport Services. We have no record of him as a Universal Transport Services customer. Universal Transport has their own MC number and is a totally different entity.
