I purchased a used special adaptive van (wheelchair accessible for a quadriplegic) for my son from a dealer in Phoenix. ( My son's previous van was totalled by some flash flooding.) It took a couple of weeks to find the van and have it checked out, and all the while my son is without transportation. The dealer agreed to arrange for shipment to Wisconsin. A week or more went by and the dealer said her shipping company was having trouble finding a truck because of the height of the van. When I complained about the delay, she said if I preferred to find my own transport, she would refund what she had charged me for shipping. I called Specialty Mobile Systems on a Tuesday morning and asked what they could do. They scheduled the pickup for Wednesday with delivery for Sunday. The pickup was delayed by one day (Thursday), but under the circumstances, I was still quite happy. Delivery was also one day behind the original quote (Monday), but given the pickup date I considered this on time and a triumph compared to what I was hearing from the dealer. The van came without any transport issues, and after my Wisconsin mechanic checked it out and did some repairs, my son had his replacement van a week after pickup from Arizona. The Specialty Mobile people were great to work with and really delivered for me when I needed quick service! Oh, by the way, I need to mention that I also saved $200 compared to what the dealer charged me for shipping. I would definitely use Specialty Mobile Systems again and would recommend them to anyone needing prompt and attentive service.
