Phil from FreightCenter contacted me about an hour after I'd been looking for a carrier for an LTL shipment. He quoted a fair price, I accepted, he said he would send me a bill of lading by email to take to the drop off point. Averitt trucking was the carrier and I have no issue with them whatsoever. I planned to be near their facility and was going to drop off the 10 30lb. boxes. The circumstances changed and we decided to allow them to pick up instead. I was dealing directly with Averitt at this point. Never received bill of lading from Phil and when I mentioned this to Averitt, they said no prob we'll bring one. Shipment went out no problem. Next day Phil called to say he was charging me 40.00 extra becaue I didn't use the bill of lading he never sent me. When I told him I never received it he declared I must have given him the wrong email. He was an arrogant JERK. After being assured by Averitt that this was an attempt to rip me off I called Phil and threatened to call the state attorney if he charged my card. GET THIS: two weeks later I happened to find a 148.99 charge from FC on my account. They will not refund it and will not return calls. I have called and explained all this and they still will not return my money. They actually STOLE from me. Phil finally took my call and gave me some BS about classification etc. Averitt said this is total fraud. I am still pursuing this as I have time and plan to prosecute if at all possible. Stay away from these thieves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
