If you are lucky with DAS, everything goes well

I have used DAS twice. The first time, the delivery was prompt. The second time, it took them two extra weeks.

I found out that the DAS customer service has no control over delayed shipments. The cars get shipped when a carier is going that way. If you are unlucky, and your car gets delayed, the customer service's job is to keep telling you new estimated dates of delivery, until the car is finally delivered by some carier.

They have an automated telephone "delivery estimate". When they called it after the delivery was late, it apologized for the late delivery, and gave me a new estimate. Non delivery on new estimate, so I called again. It gave me another new estimate... Finally I realized it was simply adding 5 days to the date I called, and giving me a new estimate (obviously the software writers hoped 5 days would be enough to cover most cases.)

So I started going through the customer-service phone-service complicated entry system, to get to a person. The customer service people were the same! They kept giving me new estimates.

Finally, I got irate, and the customer service person said "well, I am just reading what is on my screen". I asked her, "Do you have any control over the delivery, if the delivery is late, can you talk to a person and find out WHY it is late, and take steps to make it timely?"

Turns out, she has no such options. Her only job is to keep telling people what she sees on the screen. The screen keeps giving her new estimates (today + 5 days.)

So if your car gets delivered on time with DAS, that's good and fine. If it takes them a few extra weeks, there is nothing you, or DAS customer service, can do. It will get there when it will get there. Don't expect any refunds for the extra money you spend on car rentals etc, they hide behind the "we don't guarantee the delivery date" clause in their contract.

DAS has researched this move and apologizes for any inconvenience that Mukesh encountered. As we have explained elsewhere on this site, our standard shipping does not offer a guaranteed transit time. The transit time is estimated. While we do offer both guaranteed transit time and expedited transit time options, Mukesh declined purchasing those options.
