We reported this company to The Federal Motor Safety Carrier Commission (Reference # 1000094236) and to the FBI. The broker made it clear we had to pay the full cost of delivery
up front to the driver in cash or a cashier's check only which we did. The driver reported that his truck broke down after a few days. After several days of calling the driver (Willie Hinton with Elite Logistics) to find out the status of our delivery, he stopped answering calls. Another trucker with a different company who we did not sign a contract with or had knowledge of picked up our car. The second trucker who brought our vehicle to us 11 days late demanded $900 in cash for us to retrieve our vehicle. Despite having the Los Angeles police on site who we contacted for a civil backup, we were told it was a civil matter and that we could either give the trucker the money that he demanded or leave the car with the trucker (in which case, the police said we might not see the car again) and work it out with Car Transport Express. There was $600 damage to the car which also was infested with ants. By this time, the broker Neil O Beirne with Car Transport Express had stopped returning phone calls and left the matter to the dispatcher who told us a few days later that Willie Hinton would refund our money and we would receive a check in the mail for the full amount we originally paid to the driver. We never received a check and have filed criminal charges against the original trucker (Willie Hinton) as well as a small claims court case to retrieve our $1050 dollars paid to the first driver Willie Hinton at the time of pickup in addition to $473 dollars in car rental fees while we waiting on our car and $600 in damages mentioned above. Beware that neither the broker nor the dispatcher actually know the truckers you will be dealing with and you are at the mercy of whoever picks up your car. My advice is to only make payment upon receipt of the car at it's destination and to get a personal guarantee from the broker (advice from my attorney) that the car will arrive on the date agreed upon. Furthermore, contact The Federal Motor Safety Carrier Commission to determine if the auto transport company has any complaints against it and to find out exactly who the trucking company is that will be transporting your car so you can also investigate their record as well. Also, check everyone out with the Better Business Bureau. Absolute best advice is to drive your car yourself.
