We decided to use autotransport direct to ship my daughters car to Texas where she was moving. I called the company and was told that I needed to list the car for the first day it was available to ship. I asked if I should list the car a week or two early because we wanted the car there when she got there, and it would be easier for her to be without a car here than in Texas. The girl I spoke to was very unclear of what would happen and had a hard time answering questions. She said that the car needed to be listed as the first day available as someone would contact us before that date, and it would be picked up by that date. She said they would pick it up, up to a week earlier than we listed, and it needed to be ready on a moments notice. I didn't schedule with her as I didn't have some of the information she was asking me, and instead scheduled on the computer. We listed the car for November 1st. My daughters ticket to Texas was on Nov 5th. When she got to Texas she had to rent a car as the car was not even scheduled yet to be picked up. On Nov 8th I called the company and was told that it takes 2-3 weeks to ship out of Montana, and it would probably be another week or two before they even picked it up. Meanwhile the car rental would be running a tab. I asked her if that was always the case and why I wasn't told that before. I explained the first conversation that I had when I called, and she said - oh that must have been one of our new associates that doesn't really understand, and can't explain very well. Apparantly they were aware that some associates were not properly trained....great explanation. In the meantime the car is sitting in Montana and the bill for the rental is rapidly increasing. We ended up cancelling their service and frantically found someone to drive the car to Texas for us. This was a very expensive lesson in which company you may not want to use. I understand Montana is out of the loop, but I should have been informed of the time frame we were looking at so that we could have adjusted the moving schedule and my daughter could have flown later to meet the car. Having associates answering the phone who don't understand the business, is not a professional way to run a business. I was very disappointed and will recommend that my friends choose a different carrier.
