Started the process 7 weeks before desired move date. Moving two small cars from Virginia to Texas. Quoted $1751. After initial exchange of information I sat and heard nothing. I called three weeks out and asked about progress and was told by Amerifreight rep not much happens until a 10 days to a week out. Getting nervous. Waited 6 days out - still nothing, and told again not much happens until a week out. Reminded sales rep it less than 6 days now. Four days out still nothing. I have everything else scheduled to go really begining to panic a bit. Planning on leaving the cars and flying back to move them myself. Told he'll increase the offer price. To be fair it was always reasonably easy to contact the amerifrieght rep , but I had to contact him I was never contacted, and I always felt at a loss. Finally 2 days out get someone! It'll cost $1600 and I'll pay them at PLUS now I have to pay Amerifrieght rep another $820? For what? Only its too late I can't do anything about it. Then the truck driver asks to pick up a day earlier! I have to scramble to make this work, he shows up 4 hours late and it costs me another $100 to rent a car to cover things. Then the truck driver had a delay for 1.5 days on route due to mechanical problems. Another $100 in rental car. He finally arrives at 9:00pm on Saturday and say he can only take cash??!? And he's sorry no one told me ahead of time. He hears that folks aren't told it has to be cash alot of the time. So now I'm scambling to get $1600 in cash at 9:00pm in a new city. And then I do not get any receipt - I photo'ed him, the bill and the cash. Cars were fine thankfully. Pathetic. I was going to simply write it off as a learning experience and leave it alone. But Amerifreight has been hounding me with text messages and emails for a review. The fine here it is. If you are moving across country, get the car shipping quote from the movers and go with it - period. Do not go with Amerifrieght.
