I shipped a vehicle back in 2020 with Transport Connection and was pleased with Bill’s service and the carrier we worked with, so I decided to use his service again recently for another vehicle I needed shipped to me. Bill passed on the first carrier that contacted him due to their poor rating, and suggested we wait. A second carrier contacted Bill that had a perfect rating, so they were selected. The day of delivery, the driver called and had me meet him at a parking lot outside my neighborhood for easy trailer access. When I arrived, the car was already unloaded from the trailer, and the driver was awaiting payment to give me the keys. I paid and asked if there was any paperwork. He said “no” and drove off. Upon immediate inspection of the vehicle, I noticed a very obvious dent on car that was not present in any photos I had seen. After confirming with the seller of the vehicle that the damage was indeed not there prior to shipment, I immediately called Bill. Bill was dumbfounded that I did not receive a BOL (bill of lading), and immediately started looking up information on the shipping company. He called the driver, the company representative, and even their insurance company listed in their profile trying to get answers. Bill was finally able to get the shipping company representative on the phone, and upon receiving photos of the vehicle from their driver taken on the day of pickup, it was clear that no damage was present prior to pickup. The representative agreed to pay for repair of the damage, and instructed me to send them the repair invoice when completed. I gathered 5 quotes for the repair and selected one of the cheaper options. I emailed the invoice to the carrier company (as well as copied Bill in the email), and I immediately got pushback from the carrier side about the cost of repair ($620 to remove an 8” dent on a rear quarter panel). Bill left the carrier a negative rating and informed them that it was not going to be removed unless they agreed to reimburse my damages as promised. I, as well as Bill, received harassing emails from the owner of the carrier company, and Bill received a retaliatory neutral rating from the owner. None of this phased Bill, and in the end, the carrier company sent me payment and removed the retaliatory neutral rating for Bill. As promised, Bill also removed their negative rating. I told Bill several times that he really earned his money this time. He was almost always on the phone line with me in dealing with the carrier company, responding to the jerk owner’s emails, sending me links to government agencies where I can file a complaint. It was clear that this was personal to him, and not just business. I would have been out of pocket $620 had it not been for Bill applying pressure to the carrier company. I cannot imagine any one else possibly working harder on my behalf, and for that reason, he has me as a customer for life.
