Do NOT hire Smart Talk Transport OR Nationwide Car Carrier, Inc. to transport your car. NIGHTMARE!!! I started looking for a transport company the first of February. The 12 quotes I got ran from $495 to $650 . Most in the 550 range. I found this review site and began studying companies. It was overwhelming, so I made a spreadsheet of the complaints. Most of the complaints dealt with the car being picked up later than the agreed upon date .,.. Some as late as ten days. Next mentioned often was that the trucker held the car for ransom and charged more than the contract price. So then I started looking at the positive reviews and some names were mentioned more than others. Eli had five very positive reviews and I liked that they were located in FL. I was shipping the car from Tampa, Florida to Lawton, Oklahoma. So I called Eli and gave him $150 down payment and signed contract for March 1 pickup in FL and drop off in Lawton Oklahoma. My daughter would pay the driver $475 in cash. This was higher than most estimates I had gotten, but I was hoping for the best. He assured me "no problem". When I didn't hear from him on the first of March, I called him and he said March 6, right? I said "no, March 1." He said he would get right on it. When he called several days later, he said he couldn't find a driver for the price he quoted me Now my daughter would need to pay the driver $600. This then became higher than any other estimate I had gotten, so I told him to stand behind his original quote. On March 12 I called Eli and left a message for him to return the $150 and I would make other arrangements, By this time, he had stopped taking my calls and it was 12 days late in picking up car. The next morning (Mar 13) he called and said that he had this Spanish driver in my area that would take the car to Lawton, OK for $600 cash. My daughter told me to go ahead because we had run out of time. So I took my car to meet the driver. On the contract I signed with the driver, it had the Lawton address and I told him that it was only 1/2 mile west of I44. He said he was familiar with area and he would deliver it to her and he wanted to be sure she would give him $600 cash. I assured him she would and I watched my pristine Toyota Avalon (no dings, dents, nor scratches ... Just turned 50,000 miles) leave for OK. On March 15, a woman called and said my car was in Oklahoma City and I needed to pick it up immediately. I said it was supposed to be delivered to Lawton That was the contract that the driver signed. She said it would cost them $300 in diesel fuel to go 80 miles south and then 80 miles back to OKC. If the truck got 6 miles per gallon, it would take at most 25 gallons of fuel at $2.05 per gallon. They obviously thought I was STUPID. I called :Eli and he told me that he could never find a driver for Lawton That he had hired the guy for OKC. The contract I signed with Eli and the driver both said Lawton, OK. This meant nothing to anybody but me, I guess. Eli said he would find a local driver to take it to Lawton The woman said they were taking my car back go FL. I was in the middle of loading my moving van and was about to have a nervous breakdown . I got dizzy and workers told me I was very flushed. By this time, the driver didn't speak English anymore and Eli started translating and then he told me that driver would deliver the car for $800 cash. This was the highway robbery ransom that I had read about!!! My choice was the pay the amount or who knows what would have happened to my car. I finally agreed to $750 cash on delivery . Even then the car didn't show up until the next day. It was so dirty that I figured that just happens when it rides on the top of the truck. After I've washed it, now I see that the bumper has about eight scratches and dents and the front edge of the hood has a chunk out of the paint. So what was supposed to cost $625 wound up costing $900 plusbody work. One of the WORST, STRESSFUL situations I've ever had.

Ely has been fired for his reckless practices. Typically, we properly vet carriers and do our best to meet the clients needs. Clearly, this was not the case this time nor is it indicative of our normal service. The other 200 plus reviews demonstrate our consistent effort to provide the best service available. We accept responsibility for our failure and are working to rectify the issue with the client.
