This is an honest and unbiased review. I was doing my research to ship my hatchback car across the country from coast to coast. I found ShipACarDirect and the offered me the best price with a no-damage guarantee. I received a quote online and proceeded to call to speak to someone directly. The agent assigned to me was very brief and didn't try to explain or provide reassurance for someone who was shipping one of their most prized possessions from one end of the country to another for the first time. It seemed like he just wanted me to place the order ASAP so I could put down a credit card deposit. The more questions I asked about the process, the more it felt like he just wanted to hang up and force me off the phone. Every question was followed by a brief response and "Anything else?" The lack of paperwork intimidated me. After I made the deposit, they told me they would start bidding drivers to ship my car. The agent came back with one option and one option only and told me the driver wanted $50 additional than the original price. I told the agent to keep this option open but to continue looking. Couple days pass and nothing. Then the day before the original driver was to come pick up my car, he kept calling and texting nonstop for the whole day until I called into SACD and the agent finally told me what he failed to tell me two days ago which was the driver agreed to lower his price. So now it made me feel rude to the driver for not returning his harassing attempts to reach me under the impression we were still looking for other options. The driver didn't speak much English and it was hard to communicate. The driver comes to pick up the vehicle next day, looks over the vehicle and gives me a simple, single sheet receipt that was the Bill of Lading; no other paperwork. It only had the Make and Model of the car, didn't even include the mileage or any other details. I receive the car 8 days later across the country. The car looks intact and undamaged from the outside, but upon starting it, you could hear mechanical noises that were different than the condition it was in during pickup. I'm not sure how the driver's handled the vehicle when they were moving it around, but the engine was revving at higher RPMs and the idling and deceleration were definitely noticeably different. It felt like someone had made alterations to the engine, for the first half hour of driving. The car then had a weird smell coming from the engine block but dissipated. The issues soon mellowed out but the engine is noticeably louder during acceleration now. I don't know if this is due to the car moving at high speeds on the truck bed accumulated dirt and dust into the filters and crevices without the engine actually circulating during the shipping that's causing this, but I will be monitoring the car's performance in the next week or so to see if there's any major changes or if these things start to disappear on their own. 3 Stars for the whole process and lack of communication between SACD and contracted shippers.
