Empty promises and poor communication

I was recommended Red Carpet by the dealership from which I purchased my vehicle. I lived out of state, and given the situation recently in Tulsa with the pandemic, I wasn't in a position to go pick up the vehicle myself so I called Eric to help me get the vehicle transported. He was friendly and available (called me back over 4th of July weekend) and he quickly gave me a verbal quote and told me we could move as soon as the vehicle was ready. I had a few delays with financing and so the date moved about a week from when I had initially hoped to transport, but I was diligent about keeping Eric in the loop. Finally, we set a date for pickup, and Eric asked me to text all of my information to him... Text isn't exactly the most professional method of communication for business dealings, but OK, I'm an easy-going guy - let's text. I sent him my information. No response. Sent him a text the next day - hey, did you get all the info you needed? Yeah, I got it. OK, we good for pickup on xx/yy date? No response. Starting calling him and he apologized and promised he was working on it - "Got a driver I'm talking to right now, I'll call you back in 5 mins". No call. Called him again, and now the quoted price is going up because he couldn't find anybody that would deliver for their initial quote. No problem, $50 increase isn't a big deal - let's do it, go ahead and confirm and send me the driver information. No communication again. Call the next day and he's blaming the driver for backing out / being unavailable. I'm losing trust, and express as much - hey, you guys can't deliver, I'm just going to go with somebody else. I get a call from Eric - hey I understand, but I'm going to keep looking for you anyway. That's cool, thanks. I get a call back the same day saying - hey, great news, I got another driver for you! Fine. Let's make it happen, please send me the details as soon as you get 'em. Nothing. Call/Text the next day...Nothing. The other company I reached out to (Direct Connect Auto Transport) had a similar initial quote to Red Carpet. Turns out Eric actually contacted them to try and pick up my vehicle (Red Carpet is a broker, not a transport company). Should've went with them from the start, since the quoted price for transport ultimately went up while I was wasting a bunch of time with Red Carpet. The dispatch at DCAT said "those guys are some of the worst in the industry", and I wish I could say I felt like he was being unfair, but he's dead on. They're unprofessional, and full of empty promises. AVOID RED CARPET TRANSPORT and go with somebody else. You'll be glad you did. If I had to guess, Red Carpet will likely respond to this review (I read a few other negative reviews where the owner stepped in to provide "their side of the story"). Don't fall for it. Go with somebody else and avoid the hassle.
