Chris Henderson Submitted this review about Number 1 Auto Transport
Review made Live: 7/25/2017 5:30:00 PM
Background & What you already know if you're researching like I was:

I needed to transport not one, but two vehicles across the country between family. I knew absolutely nothing about transporting vehicles or how this industry worked. If you've done your research you know that all of these thousands of brokers have access to the same "dispatch" network and advertise your job for truckers to pick up. The truckers are the ones who set the rate, brokers are just coordinating all of the details for a fee. The reason this is important is that all of these brokers are going to give you a quote, an estimate. Number 1 does not give you a quote, they reach out to drivers and get the confirmed cost of transit, the number won't change. If you are knee deep in your research as I was, you've also noticed that seems to be a negative trend across the board.

Why I picked Number one Auto:

I entered my transport request on a random transportation website that kicked it out to at least 10 different brokers and I started receiving quotes almost immediately. Out of the 10, I had a couple that probably would have worked, and others with abysmal ratings/reviews, not only on transport reviews.com, but BBB, Yelp, Google and Facebook. I was starting to give up hope that I would be completely comfortable with any choice and I needed to just jump and pray. After 5 days I was about to pull the trigger on one of these other brokers when Joe called me from number 1 auto, it was the first time I had heard from them. After all the research, all the red flags, all the reservations I had, Joe's voicemail alone checked off all the right boxes and nearly won me over immediately (I still had to do my due diligence though). They didn't spam me with generated emails, they did some legwork, they had a number that was ready to go and guaranteed not to change (hence the delay in hearing from them at all). I had at the time, 6 other quotes, ranging from $595 to $795. Mind you, I had no idea if those numbers would fluctuate as I've read happens, or if they included the broker fee. Joe's guaranteed all-in number was $895 for my particular job. I think it's natural that people go for the lowest price, but in my experience I'd rather pay a little more for a guarantee than to gamble with my assets for something that may well fluctuate anyway. For me, anyway, peace of mind and integrity is valued far more than if I could get another broker to do it for a few dollars less. Full disclosure, Joe did advise me that after he had spoken to the driver of my car, the driver misquoted earlier and gave $20 off the original (That's how we got from $895 to $875)

Why I would tell you to pick Number one Auto:

Now that they have transported my cars, I can tell you that the company truly does value your business, they are very good at what they do and they don't stop caring the moment the truck is loaded and they collect their fee. There was a constant stream of feedback and communication, nothing came at a surprise, everything transpired in the exact way it was explained and expected to beforehand. I cannot understate how much integrity this company has and the level of service they strive to provide. For the rest of my life, I will always recommend Number 1 Auto. I'm not being compensated, I don't have any connection to number one or its employees beyond being a very satisfied customer. I'm an architect in Maryland, if you have any questions about my experience with number 1 auto I invite you to call me. (210) 818-2131 and I'll be happy to tell you about my experience.

Let me tell you about Joe at Number 1 Auto:

I would be remiss in my duty to leave an accurate review if I did not specifically recognize Joseph (Joe) Carter. The job I had for Number one Auto was a little more complicated than what may be the norm. My in-laws bought an unused car from my wife's grandparents (Florida to Texas), and once my in-laws received it they were going to send their old car to my wife and I (Texas to Maryland). Joe worked with us all to make sure my in-laws received their car before picking up their old one and sending it to us. We had some conference calls between NY, MD and TX with Joe and my in-laws and he treated the people I love most with respect and consideration that is rare in folks these days - my in-laws were also very pleased. The company is great and I'm sure there are also other great companies you may very well have a chance to use. Joe is what made the real difference, if you ever have a chance to work with him, I honestly believe you could do no better. Joe, I'm sure you'll come across this review at some point, I'm leaving it on Yelp, Google, and Number 1 Auto's facebook page as well (and I don't usually leave reviews, good or bad, on anything). Thank you again, we feel blessed that you called.
