Bait and Switch and breach of contract: After receiving several quotes from various companies I selected Nexus Auto Transport (NAT) to transport my car from Florida to Nevada, on May 31, 2020, I paid them $100 deposit based on their $800 written quote and verbal confirmation to ship my car on June 10, 2020 and deliver it by June 15, 2020 in Las Vegas, NV. On June 9, I received a call from NAT's representative Max stating that they have found a transporter who can pick up the car on June 10, but the cost will be $900 instead of the original $800. I refused to pay an additional $100 and asked them to honor their original offer and the contract. Nathan and Max told me not to worry, they will find someone and have the car delivered by June 15/16. On June 11, I received another call from Max stating that they have found a driver, but the cost will be $900 instead of $800. It was very frustrating to keep hearing the same thing again and again. When asked what was the probability to find someone to ship the car for $800, I was told it was 50/50. That was not too reassuring. It became abundantly clear that NAT was engaged in a classic bait and switch tactic and would not be able to honor the written quote and agreed upon price. Since it would have been impossible to find another transporter at the last moment to pick up the car and deliver it by June 15/16, I was left with no other choice but to pay an additional $100 to avoid further delays. The car was picked up on June 12 and delivered on June 18 in Las Vegas, NV. This delay resulted in an additional $150 in rental car expense. Instead of $800, I incurred $1,050 to ship the car. There are many other people who have experienced the same bait and switch tactic who were asked to pay $100 more at the last moment. This appears to be NAT's standard business practice. Any such practice is considered a fraud and against state and federal laws and amounts to a breach of contract. NAT had no intention of shipping the car for $800 and used this quote to get my business and in the process, they also hurt their competitors. Based on my recent experience, I will never do business with this company again.
