On June 5th, I requested a quote from this company. Since I was a new customer, the website gave me a quoted price of $1,089 vs. the returning customer price at $1,400. The website reflected it was a 20% discount for being a new customer. I decided to call the business to get more information on the pricing and the date that I would like my car to be picked up. I was told at the time that it is the out-the-door price and there shouldn't be any issues with picking up my car which was scheduled for June 22nd, no later than the 23rd. I decided to continue with my reservation and was informed that they would call me to confirm. I received a call from a customer service rep that day and she said they would call back to get the deposit. At no time did the business disclose that they are a brokerage firm that seeks out business for people who request auto transportation. A week goes by and after I haven't heard anything, I call to ask for an update. The rep informs that everything is still set on the schedule and once they have their official dispatcher they will call back. The following week after not hearing anything I begin to call more frequently to get an update. I recall speaking to a rep on Wednesday and they tell me that everything is set for my car to be picked up on the 22nd. She said I will receive a call later that day or the next. Of course, that doesn't happen. I call again, the man proceeds to tell me the same thing. Everything is set and I will receive a call by the end of business. Again, doesn't happen. We are now at Sunday, June 21st the day before my car is scheduled to be picked up and they tell me they have issues finding a driver for my car. Since I did not know they were brokers at the time, I'm confused as to why they are having issues locking a spot down for my car if I called so far ahead in advanced. The rep explains that they are doing what they can and even raised the price to lock in a driver. I ask what she means by raised the price and will it affect my original quote. That's when she informs me, the day before my car is scheduled to be picked up, that there was a price increase. I immediately request a manager because I felt as a consumer I shouldn't be penalized for this. The manager, Jay, does not call me back that day and waits until the next morning to give me a call. He asks if I still need my car transported and told us the cost would be $1,325. So the "20% new customer discount" is a complete scam to get you to lock in a reservation. Instead of trying to resolve the issue with the pricing he states that that's the way the business works and I can go to the BBB with my claim because it would not make a difference. This company waits until the last minute to place you in a bind to agree to a price increase after they quote you a lower price. This is an unethical business practice and they need to be held accountable or they will continue to do this to other consumers. They must clearly communicate that they are brokers, there isn't a discount no matter if you are new or returning and the price they quote you means nothing.
