Sorta Ok, with issues

Mercury Transport arranged my Florida pick-up on short notice, and my car arrived in good condition 11 days later in Oregon. Although a successful transaction, there were issues. The carrier didn’t directly pick up my car; instead, they subcontracted work to a local towing company who arrived to take the vehicle to meet the big transporter truck somewhere else. I lived off an interstate just north of Tampa. The local towing guy was ready to take my car without any documents — he didn’t have a bill of lading or know what one was. I informed him a properly signed bill of lading was required; I refused to release my car otherwise. I continued insisting on documentation, and eventually, I printed a makeshift form his dispatcher emailed me. For insurance purposes, the document's authority was questionable, but it was something, and I was desperate, so I signed and hoped for the best. If I had already packed my personal computer and printer, I would have killed the deal. When it was time for delivery, we were in store for another peculiar surprise. The driver delivered my car on the soft median of a major road, just short of a busy left-turn lane. Cars were zipping by feet from where we stood in both directions as we counted $1,700 in cash. The spacious shopping plaza parking lot across the street would have made a safer alternative. I’m happy to have my car back, but given all that happened, I’m not sure I would involve the same people again if the need arose.
