Our vehicle was damaged due to a chain breaking. It really could not have been prevented, in that who could have predicted that a chain would break? We don't even blame the truckers. But since it happened on the truck, we believed the trucker was responsible. The repair cost was just over a thousand dollars. The trucker initially said they would pay for the damage, but weeks went by, and no check. I called them a number of times, and each time we spoke, they promised to send the check. But it never showed up. You can imagine the frustration of calling, having a nice conversation where we were all in agreement, but then the check never showed up after waiting a week for it to arrive, then waiting another week, thinking the mail must be slow. I finally ended up going back to the broker, Mercury Auto Transport, and asked them if they could put pressure on the trucker. Only after Mercury got in the loop did we get our check. The check showed up one week after I called Mercury. During that 2 months, I realized that the stress my 87 year old mother was experiencing was costing way more than the potential financial loss. The fact that my mother chilled out when she finally received her check was enough for me to be grateful to Mercury for their involvement, irregardless of the money involved. As I write this, I am giving them the order for the return trip from florida back to kentucky, and won't think twice as far as using them for all future business.
