This was my first time doing the auto shipment game. After learning about how this all works, it was clear that all transport companies are basically middlemen for the drivers/carriers. The prices vary depending on where your car is coming from and going to and how fast you want it. If you are off a major highway, the prices will be better than if you are in the middle of nowhere. The other thing is timing. I was in no hurry thus I could wait for a good rate to come along and go from there. I worked with Mercury because they were not the cheapest and not the most expensive. They were clear as to how the game is played. I gave the person I spoke to the time and leeway to find the right carrier and price. Mercury did their job. The issue with the carrier is different. My only complaint was that the carrier refused to ever leave a message so if I was on a call, they called and called and called.until I picked up. That said, the carrier was prompt, professional and on time with pickup and delivery. Mercury assured me that they had used this carrier before and they were good. They were right. I received an invoice showing what I had to pay in total and broken down to Mercury and the transport company. I paid my money to Mercury via credit card and then waited for my car. They said 7-10 days. It was 7 days exactly. I had to get cash for the delivery. Upon arrival, I inspected the car. It was fine. Dirty but fine. Gave the cash. Got the keys and all was done. Mercury was great. Some of the others kept texting and emailing me daily. Very high pressure sales tactics. "Here's your discount if you book now" for example. If you are in a hurry, then you will pay more. Plain and simple. If not, then you are golden and will get a good deal. It took about a week to get the deal and then a week to deliver the car so a total of two weeks. That was fine by me for a coast to coast delivery. Good luck. Read reviews carefully. It is clear that some people do not understand that the car has to drive on and off the carrier (if not, it costs more). They also don't understand that the timing is a range and is not perfect. No complaints here! Thanks Jay R.
