I spoke with Jim at 2:00pm on Friday, January 4th and explained to him that I needed to get a transporter who could pick up my vehicle between that day and 1:00pm on Sunday since I was going away on a business trip at 5:00pm on Sunday, and wouldn't be around for a pickup for at least a month. In addition, my vehicle needed to be delivered in Texas by Wednesday, January 9th, basically giving him 5 days to arrange a pickup and delivery. He first of all explained what transport companies like Mercury do, and that Mercury does not collect an up-front deposit (their fee), which further motivates them to find a truck for clients quickly. He then said that mine was a tough order, but that he'd do his best to find a truck that was loading in my area.

He called me back around 5:00pm with a phone number of the trucking company's representative, saying that they could pick up my vehicle the same day if I was willing to drive 30 minutes from my home to meet the truck at a truck stop to hand over my vehicle. Said compromise was made, and my vehicle was handed over to the driver who said that he would deliver by Tuesday. My vehicle was indeed delivered on Tuesday, one day ahead of my schedule!
